A pillar of Colombia’s 2016 peace agreement between the government and FARC rebels is an effort to address victims’ rights to truth, justice and reparations, as well as guarantees of non-repetition. UN Human Rights is supporting such efforts.

UN Human Rights is stepping up its efforts to prevent conflict, violence and insecurity, including by addressing the role that inequalities, impunity and discrimination play in triggering conflict. Full compliance with human rights is the best starting point for preventing crises and build peace.

South Sudan’s transitional period, as spelled out in the country’s roadmap of the peace agreement, ends in February 2025. Yet the world’s youngest nation is not quite on track to have all its national institutions in place, said Musa Gassama from UN Human Rights in South Sudan.
