BACKGROUND

Pintupi-Luritja is a central Australian Aboriginal dialect of the Western Desert Language group. It is also referred to as a communilect as it evolved with Aboriginal settlement in several communities in the Haasts Bluff Land Trust from the 1940-1960s spreading from there. It is the first language of approximately 2000 speakers. Written sources include a dictionary, the bible, hymns and children’s books
