Human Rights Committee 69th Session 24 July 2000 Morning
The Human Rights Committee this morning started adopting its annual report, which it will submit to the United Nations General Assembly.
The Committee’s 18 independent experts started adopting the report on a paragraph-by-paragraph basis. The report deals with various subjects covering the Committee's activities at its sessions held in 1999 and 2000.
The annual report is divided into chapters in which the Committee's jurisdiction and activities; methods of work; submission of reports by States parties and their consideration by the Committee; consideration of communications; and follow-up activities under the optional protocol, among other things, are dealt with. The annual report also contains 12 annexes covering decisions of the Committee and other matters pertaining to its activities.
The Committee will continue to adopt its annual report when it reconvenes at 3 p.m.
