The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Human Rights in Cambodia, Peter Leuprecht, is conducting his second mission to that country.
During the visit, which will last from 16 to 23 February 2001, Mr. Leuprecht will focus on trafficking of women and children, prison conditions, the rights of minorities, adoption and issues related to measures for demilitarization, education and poverty reduction in the Government’s budget of 2001.
Mr. Leuprecht is scheduled to meet with a number of senior officials, representatives of international and local non-governmental organizations and United Nations agencies.
The Special Representative is also expected to urge the authorities to comply with their reporting obligations under the Convention against Torture, the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
